    Highest Honors

    Dr. B. Jayant Baliga receives the National Medal of Technology and Innovation from the President. It’s often called America’s Nobel Prize for innovation. Past winners include the late Steve Jobs of Apple and Bill Gates of Microsoft fame.

    Genetic Genius

    Dr. Trudy F.C. Mackay’s groundbreaking research on genetic variations earned her membership into the National Academy of Sciences, along with a host of other awards and honors.

    A Better Insect

    Entomologist Fred Gould genetically engineers insects to prevent transmission of diseases such as malaria and to reduce crop damage. His work wins him election to the National Academy of Sciences – the 10th NC State faculty member bestowed with the honor.

    Dr. Michael Escuti, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, will receive the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers later this fall. And he’s launching his own startup, ImagineOptix.
