Illumina MiSeq

Illumina MiSeq

The Illumina sequencing platform has been the workhorse of the sequencing industry and is extremely reliable. The Illumina MiSeq is capable of generating the longest Illumina reads, up to 600 bases (300×2 paired end, v3 chemistry) and up to 22 million reads per run. This platform is ideal for metagenomics or de novo sequencing applications where longer read lengths are desired.

Illumina NextSeq 2000

Illumina NextSeq 2000

Coming Soon! The GSL is proud to present its latest NGS sequencer, an Illumina NextSeq 2000 system, through funding provided by the NC State Office of Research and Innovation. This instrument combines the longer read power of the MiSeq ( up to 300×2 PE reads) with the scaling power of the NovaSeq 6000 platform. With multiple flow cells (P1, P2 and P3) available, the NextSeq 2000 offers flexibility in sequencing yields (from 100M to 1.2 Billion clusters), with greater Q30 scores for reads up to 300 bp. This platform is a great option for deep amplicon sequencing and shotgun metagenomic approaches.

Illumina NovaSeq 6000

Illumina NovaSeq 6000

Illumina’s NovaSeq 6000 system is the workhorse of the GSL! Purchased through funds provided by the NC State Office of Research and Innovation, the Office of Finance and Administration and the Provost’s Office, this powerful instrument is capable of sequencing up to 10 billion sequence reads in a single flow cell (S4 flow cell), while also extending significant costs savings (cost per Gb) when compared to other Illumina sequencers. As such, this platform is ideal for large sequencing projects that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive on other platforms. Several different flow cell types (S1,S2 & S4), each at different output scales, are currently available.

Pacific Biosciences Sequel

Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) Sequel IIe

The GSL has now acquired a Pacific Biosciences Sequel IIe DNA sequencer with funding provided by the USDA/NIFA program. This long read, third generation sequencing platform facilitates de novo genome assembly projects, and full-length transcriptome sequencing (IsoSeq) efforts. The Sequel IIe utilizes HiFi sequencing technology for even greater sequencing accuracy.
