Internal preproposal requirements

Title page: Provide a title page with the name of the sponsoring agency, the full name of the program,  and a working title for the proposed project, starting with “RPP.” Identify all NC State principal investigators and co-investigators, their affiliations, email addresses and telephone numbers. For each external partner, provide the same information  for the primary investigator of each partner.  On the title page, also provide the total amount that will be requested from the Department of Education; no details are needed and the amount provided is not binding. Include the date the internal preproposal is being submitted for review.

Project summary (up to 5 pages): Using the Department of Education Request for Applications as a guide, describe why the proposal should be selected to represent NC State in the sponsor’s review. The narrative should pay close attention to the Department of Education requirements and review criteria. Principal investigators may provide any information they consider relevant for assisting the NC State panel members in their deliberations, as long as the complete project summary is no more than five pages. Optional: One or two charts or graphs may be provided in addition to the five-page narrative.

Biographical sketches: Provide biographical sketch for the NC State principal investigator. Additional biographical sketches for the primary co-principal investigators  may also be submitted.  Any biographical sketches submitted should be  materially relevant to demonstrating that appropriate expertise is included and that the project should represent NC State in the sponsor’s review.

Submitting the preproposal: The internal preproposal does not have to be entered into PINS. However, if selected in the internal review, the proposal does have to be entered into PINS. Carefully review and correct errors before submitting the preproposal because no pre-review will be provided. Submit the internal preproposal to the Research Funding Opportunities Manager by 5:00 p.m. July 19, 2012. Preproposals must be received before or by the internal preproposal deadline.
