Register and Enroll for CITI Program Training

CITI is a platform that hosts online training in research, ethics, regulatory oversight, responsible conduct of research, and research administration for researchers. Various departments at NC State University such as the Conflict of Interest/Notice of Intent office, the IRB office, and other NC State departments, labs, or research teams  encourage and, in some cases, require researchers to complete CITI training. Completing CITI courses may also be a requirement of your funder (e.g. National Institutes of Health (NIH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Defense (DoD) etc. The requirements will vary, so please review the appropriate links below and consult with colleagues as appropriate.

COI and RCR

You may have been notified that you are required to take the Conflict of Interest (COI) or Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training through the CITI Program. Certain federal agencies — such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), Public Health Service (PHS), and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) — have policies in place that make these trainings a requirement. To view policy requirements related to COI training, visit External COI Regulations and Expectations. To view the requirements and deadlines associated with RCR training, visit RCR Training Guidance. Individuals who need to complete COI or RCR training must be registered in the CITI Program and enrolled in the associated course.

IRB

The NC State IRB office encourages and, in some cases, requires our researchers to complete a CITI HSR Basic course, a Responsible Conduct of Research course, and a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) course (e.g. Working with Devices or When SBER Research is a Clinical Trial) if relevant to the proposed research.
