Requesting Generic Email Accounts for RED Notifications
Upon request, Generic Email Accounts can be used to allow multiple users — anyone with access to the generic account — to receive notifications from RED, in place of or in addition to individual users, as appropriate.
Please review the following before requesting to use a Generic Email Account for RED notifications:
How to Request
Requests for Generic Email Accounts in RED must come from a College Research Office and be sent to the relevant module owner for evaluation.
- COI/COC: Saloni Vahia (ssvahia@ncsu.edu), COI Director
- Animal Care and Use (IACUC): Jennifer Dew (jadew@ncsu.edu), IACUC Director
- Sponsored Programs: Kevin Schroeder (kgschroe@ncsu.edu), Sponsored Programs Director
- Human Subjects (IRB): IRB-Director@ncsu.edu – Module in development
Security Permissions
Generic Email Accounts have their own security profile in RED; therefore, someone who receives a notification or report via the generic email with a link to a record may not have sufficient security permissions to access the record in RED.
Individual users will not be able to log into the profile associated with a Generic Email Account, so generic accounts should not be used as a substitute for notifications that require action on behalf of the unit’s personnel; for example, approving a proposal or conducting a review.
What Else to Know
- The RED IT team maintains a list of all Generic Email Accounts that are currently being used to receive RED notifications.
- Each Generic Email Account must have at least one point of contact to reach out to regarding questions/concerns.
