{"id":11838,"date":"2023-07-10T13:11:51","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T17:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.ncsu.edu\/administration\/?page_id=11838"},"modified":"2024-02-07T14:31:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-07T19:31:18","slug":"pre-hire-eligibility","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.ncsu.edu\/administration\/policies-and-guidance\/pi-eligibility\/pre-hire-eligibility\/","title":{"rendered":"Pre-Hire Eligibility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NC State Identity <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Initiate the HR Job Action Request (JAR) in accordance with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ncsu.service-now.com\/esc?id=kb_article&amp;table=kb_knowledge&amp;sys_kb_id=2ad25c9dc382a594a9b22c6dc001318c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Human Resources processes<\/a>.\u00a0<em>The HR JAR action can be submitted and approved by the Human Resources Information Management &amp; Analytics (HRIMA) team up to 180 days prior to the system effective date. This allows for the elimination of\u00a0unnecessary\u00a0unpaid\u00a0appointments.\u00a0If, however, the incoming EHRA Faculty needs \u201cInvestigator\u201d status prior to <em>the approval of the HR system action<\/em>, it may be necessary to submit an unpaid appointment using the \u201cUP11 Unpaid Faculty All Ranks\u201d job code.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Payroll lockout periods may impact the UHR approval timeframe.&nbsp;Please plan accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">System Access<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the JAR is approved at all levels and a Unity ID has been assigned, The College Research Office should submit a research systems\u2019 access request to <a href=\"mailto:SPARCS_IT_Team@ncsu.edu\">SPARCS_IT_Team@ncsu.edu<\/a>.&nbsp; Attach to the email the individual\u2019s signed appointment letter to confirm Investigator eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When the HR action is approved and the individual is assigned a Unity ID, they are automatically added to RED, which will allow them to submit an initial COI disclosure.&nbsp;They will not, however, receive notice to complete their COI disclosure until their official Hire Date.&nbsp;If they are listed as an Investigator on a proposal, please let them know to complete their COI disclosure.&nbsp;Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.ncsu.edu\/administration\/compliance\/research-compliance\/coi\/coi-procedures-and-guidance\/\">COI Office Site<\/a> for further information or assistance.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These individuals do not require Financial System Access during this pre-hire period, <strong>therefore no SAR request is needed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is a need to compensate an incoming EHRA faculty prior to their official hire date, please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/ncsu.service-now.com\/esc?id=kb_article&amp;table=kb_knowledge&amp;sys_kb_id=d2fce74297ebd9d045331b34a253afc6\">HR Guidance for Tenured\/Tenure Track Faculty Summer Pre-Hires<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This process is only for new EHRA faculty who, by their appointment, are eligible to serve as an Investigator on research proposals.&nbsp;For all other Investigator eligibility requests, please contact the Director of Sponsored Programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NC State Identity Initiate the HR Job Action Request (JAR) in accordance with\u00a0Human Resources processes.\u00a0The HR JAR action can be submitted and approved by the Human Resources Information Management &amp;&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":0,"parent":2372,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"source":"","ncst_custom_author":"","ncst_show_custom_author":false,"ncst_dynamicHeaderBlockName":"ncst\/default-header","ncst_dynamicHeaderData":"{\"pageIntro\":\"If an incoming EHRA faculty needs \u201cInvestigator\u201d status in order to submit proposals or transfer existing awards to NC State <strong>prior to their hire date<\/strong>, they need two things; an NC State Identity, Electronic Research Administration System Access.\u00a0\"}","ncst_content_audit_freq":"","ncst_content_audit_date":"","ncst_content_audit_display":false,"ncst_backToTopFlag":"","footnotes":""},"tags":[],"class_list":["post-11838","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
