Three College of Engineering faculty, B. Jayant Baliga, Ruben Carbonell, and Frances Ligler have been elected Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). The NAI was founded in 2010 to recognize and encourage inventors with U.S. patents, enhance the visibility of university-led technology and innovation. The organization has over 200 institutional members worldwide and over 3,000 individual inventor members. Baliga, Carbonell, and Liger, along with David Aspnes, Jerome Cuomo, and Jay Narayan, who were elected in previous years, are among the 757 Fellows recognized by the highest distinction accorded solely to academic inventors. Their work demonstrates a dedication to influencing the quality of life, economic development, and societal well-being through the creation or facilitation of remarkable inventions.
