NC State was well represented at this year’s CED Life Science Conference, with seven startup companies featured by CED and four startups that served on a pre-conference panel. In partnership with the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and NCBIO, the conference aimed to empower entrepreneurs and North Carolina’s life science community with new perspectives from top industry leaders. As one of the nation’s longest-running entrepreneurial events and leading life science gatherings, the conference connected over 1,000 attendees including entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders, university innovators, and life science visionaries.

NC State kicked things off with a pre-conference panel discussion highlighting innovations and the entrepreneurial journey of four NC State startups. With more than 100 people in attendance, the panel was moderated by Kelly Sexton, director of NC State’s Office of Technology Transfer (OTT), and included panelists Giles Shih, CEO of BioResource International, Miles Wright, CEO of Xanofi, David Clark, CEO of Aseptia, and Malcom Thomas, COO of Agile Sciences.

The panel was put together by the NC State Alumni Entrepreneurs Network, the Office of Technology Transfer, and the NC State Entrepreneurship Initiative, and was sponsored by HUB International Southeast.

The main stage of the conference showcased company stories of breaking through barriers and scaling for success and included NC State startup Physcient. In addition to Physcient, six NC State startups, Agile Sciences, MAA Laboratories, Clavé Biodesign, NIRvana Sciences, Trana Discovery, and RiboWiz Scientific, were featured in the Innovation Room, which provided exposure to 42 of North Carolina’s most disruptive and innovative companies.

“The NC State Office of Technology Transfer is pleased to continue its strategic partnership with CED by participating in the Life Science conference. This venue provides a critical opportunity for our startup companies to connect with potential collaborators and investors. The pre-conference panel is a great platform to showcase the success of our startups that have successfully moved NC State innovations out into the market,” said Kelly Sexton.
