Angela D’Orio

Licensing Intern

As a Licensing Intern at NC State’s Office of Research Commercialization, Angela works closely with the Licensing Team to promote the commercialization of intellectual property coming out of the University. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Textiles Technology Management at N.C. State’s Wilson College of Textiles, her research project focuses on patent landscape analysis in nonwovens under the supervision of Dr. Behnam Pourdeyhimi at the Nonwovens Institute. Before joining N.C. State, Angela graduated from the University of Bologna School of Law and then completed the LL.M. in International Trade Law and Arbitration with the International Labour Organization (UN Agency).

She’s passionate about the impact of university inventions in the real world and is currently working on completing the Graduate Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization. She plans to pursue a career in technology transfer after graduation.

Outside of her internship and academic career, Angela spends her time volunteering for the Office of International Services and for Raleigh Acts of kindness, where she met her best friends; she also enjoys going to classical music concerts, camping, and hiking.
