As the Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Office of Technology Licensing at NC State, Brian leads the strategic commercialization of the university\u2019s diverse research portfolio, overseeing a high-performing team that manages over 200 annual invention disclosures and 80 new patent filings.<\/p>\n

A licensed California attorney with a background in Materials Engineering, Brian has spent over a decade at NC State navigating the complexities of IP protection, startup formation, and industry engagement. His leadership has been key in driving ~$8M in annual licensing and reimbursement revenue and facilitating the launch of 14\u201318 new startups each year.<\/p>\n

Throughout his tenure, he has led negotiations on behalf of NC State in hundreds of\u00a0 agreements, while serving as a key advisor on federally and industry-sponsored research compliance. This unique blend of legal expertise and technical fluency allows him to help bridge the gap between academic discovery and market-ready innovation.<\/p>\n
