State University is given significant credit for the city\u2019s economic success.<\/p>\n<p>The Raleigh Metropolitan Statistical Area ranked 2nd on the\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/assets1b.milkeninstitute.org\/assets\/Publication\/ResearchReport\/PDF\/best-performing-cities-report-2017-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list of best-performing cities<\/a>\u00a0for 2017, according to the\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.milkeninstitute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Milken Institute<\/a>, a California think tank.
