AERPAW 5G Technology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ultra-fast speed meets unparalleled responsiveness. That\u2019s the promise of fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks. Based at NC State, Aerial Experimentation and Research Platform for Advanced Wireless (AERPAW), is the first wireless research platform to study the convergence of 5G technology and autonomous drones. The Center for Geospatial Analytics at NC State is the foremost interdisciplinary research and teaching center of its kind in the nation. We offer the only Ph.D. program in geospatial analytics in the U.S. We work alongside top researchers, policy experts and leaders in industry to apply geospatial analytics to a host of problems \u2014 from preparing for floods to controlling the spread of invasive species.<\/p>\n\n\n

ASSIST focuses on creating self-powered sensing, computing, and communication systems to enable data-driven insights. ASSIST brings together researchers, practitioners, and industry partners in an ecosystem that encourages innovation with a focus on education and outreach. The center develops systems for high-value applications by integrating fundamental advances in energy harvesting, low-power electronics, and sensors with a focus on usability and actionable data.<\/p>\n\n\n

Commercial Leap Ahead for Wide Bandgap Semiconductors (CLAWS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

CLAWS is a DOD-funded regional hub specializing in wide bandgap semiconductors, which offer higher voltage and temperature capacity than traditional silicon chips. These chips are used in power electronics, but also in RF and wireless devices for communications and radars, as well as photonic devices for sensing, communications, artificial intelligence, and future quantum technology applications. CLAWS works with its partners in higher education and industry to explore next-generation ultra-wide bandgap materials with even greater voltage and temperature capabilities, including diamond and gallium oxide electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n
