Information for Implementation Phase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s official \u2014 the implementation phase has begun. <a href=\"http:\/\/infoedglobal.com\/\">InfoEd Global<\/a> began working with us to develop our first module \u2014 Animal Care and Use \u2014 in early August. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keep in mind that this will be a phased implementation, meaning the modules will be phased-in gradually over the approximately three years anticipated for implementation to be completed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A phased implementation will enable more-focused testing and provide project staff experience in developing instructional and guidance materials designed for NC State\u2019s processes and procedures. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A high-level ERA Module Implementation Timeline is below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1133 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/research.ncsu.edu\/intranet\/era\/files\/2018\/08\/ERA-Module_Implementation_Timeline.gif\" alt=\"ERA Module Implementation Timeline\" width=\"1036\" height=\"391\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Animal Care and Use was chosen as the first module to be implemented primarily because of the relatively low number of affected campus users and the fact that the paper-based processes currently in use eliminates the need for complex data conversion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conversely,<\/span>\u00a0the implementation of the Sponsored Programs module (which includes Proposal Development, Proposal Tracking, Award Tracking and Financial Tracking) stretches from Fall 2018 through Spring 2020 \u2014 overlapping with the implementation of most other modules \u2014 due to the large number and wide variety of users affected.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each module\u2019s development and implementation will follow the process outlined below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1312\" src=\"https:\/\/research.ncsu.edu\/intranet\/era\/files\/2018\/08\/ERA-Module-Development-Process-V3-082418-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"712\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As each module is developed, an increasing number of campus representatives will become involved \u2014 but to be clear, there will be end-user representation for all key stakeholder groups throughout the entire process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first three steps in the process mainly consist of InfoEd gathering information about our current systems and business processes, in order to begin custom-tailoring their <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/infoedglobal.com\/solutions\/research-compliance\/iacuc-animal-research\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">existing modules<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to meet our unique needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Steps four through six are when the majority of stakeholders will begin interacting with the software. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After undergoing user acceptance testing \u2014 the critical, last step in the software development process, in which end-users ensure the system performs as intended in real-world scenarios and then provide final feedback \u2014 campus training will begin to take place in preparation for campus-wide implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When it\u2019s time for you to get involved and begin engaging with the new system, you will be given ample notification, but hopefully the above visuals give an idea of when you should expect to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lastly, below you can see the
