The inaugural meeting of EDC-NC (the endocrine disruption special interest group of CHHE) will be in February. Presentations will focus on reproduction, brain & behavior, and metabolism, with a special session on GenX and other emerging contaminates in NC. Trainees are encouraged to participate in the poster session. There will be prizes for best grad/postdoc posters!!

Topics include

  • metabolic disruption,
  • obesogens,
  • human health effects,
  • brain function including immune aspects, and
  • the impacts of preconception exposures.

The meeting will culminate in a workshop/round table discussion of emerging contaminants of interest to NC, with GenX and other perfluorinated compounds as a prototype example. This session will give a general overview of the emerging water contamination issues in Wilmington, Fayetteville and Cary, the “state of the science” regarding the possible health of these compounds, and some basics about how the different state agencies and offices are organized and functioning to handle these emerging pollution issues.

Poster session

Recycling is encouraged – the poster can be something presented at another meeting (SOT, SFN, Endo, etc.). Prizes will be given for best posters. Participation is voluntary and must be indicated on the registration form.

Any questions should be directed to Jerry Heindel at jerryheindel@gmail.com.

We hope to see you at the first meeting of EDC-NC!
