RALEIGH \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0EDJX, a new venture in Raleigh focused on so-called \u201cedge computing,\u201d has $6.4 million in new cash after tapping 19 investors.<\/p>\n

In a debt raise with funds to be used for \u201cgeneral operations,\u201d\u00a0EDJX<\/a>\u00a0disclosed the financing in an\u00a0SEC filing.<\/a><\/p>\n

Edge computing is\u00a0defined as<\/a>\u00a0\u201cdistributed computing\u00a0paradigm that brings\u00a0computation\u00a0and\u00a0data storage\u00a0closer to the location where it is needed, to improve response times and save bandwidth.\u201d<\/p>\n

And EDJX\u2019s founders \u2013\u00a0John Cowan, Delano Seymour and James Thomason, all cited as \u201ccloud industry veterans\u201d in\u00a0the firm\u2019s LinkedIn profile<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 believes it has an edge in delivering cloud-based solutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cEDJX is a distributed edge computing platform and decentralized peer to peer marketplace created to meet the exponential demand growth for data processing that will serve trillions of mobile, IoT, Web 3.0, and personal devices at the edge,\u201d the company says.<\/p>\n

\u201cEDJX is leading the revolution for real-world edge computing applications including industrial IoT, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and robotics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Currently enrolling firm in a beta test program, EDJX asks what users to could do \u201cif you could deliver content, process data, and run code at ultra-low latency, closer to users and connected things than ever before?\u201d EDJX says it is \u201cdeploying thousands of locations to create an edge cloud platform that\u2019s faster, more reliable, and more secure.\u201d<\/p>\n

By working with EDJX, the company says \u201cit is incredibly easy to start building apps at planet-scale.\u201d<\/p>\n
