Dr. Marnie Metzler, DVM, became NC State\u2019s new University Attending Veterinarian<\/a> on Monday, Dec. 18. Dr. Metzler had been serving as NC State\u2019s Attending Vet on an interim basis since 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this transition, the Attending Vet now reports to NC State\u2019s Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Mladen Vouk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis marks an important milestone for NC State in the context of animal well-being and clinical care of animals,\u201d Vouk says. \u201cDr. Metzler is an outstanding professional, and we are thrilled to have her join the Office of Research and Innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

University Attending Veterinarians are responsible for the well-being and clinical care of animals used in research, testing, teaching and production; their goal is to simultaneously support animal research and advocate for the animals used in that research.<\/p>\n\n\n
