Mackenzie E.J. Perry is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University. She earned her PhD from Virginia Tech as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, conducting doctoral research as a guest researcher at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory on solid-state metal additive manufacturing. Dr. Perry previously served as a Materials Engineer and later a Workforce Development Coordinator at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, where she led technical research projects and cross-DoD coordination efforts in additive manufacturing. At NC State, she plays a leadership role in standing up METAL workforce bootcamps and developing workforce development and other initiatives in the Defense and Security Institute, with a focus on strengthening collaboration across academia, industry, and government.
