MBTP-GES Exploring Case Studies Workshop

*Note: This workshop is restricted to NC State faculty and students involved in the NIH Molecular Biotechnology Training Program.

Tuesday, May 17, 2022, 9AM – 1PM
Faculty Lounge, 5231 Hunt Library

With the coaching of core faculty from the Genetic Engineering and Society Center, groups of MBTP faculty mentors and trainees will focus on three specific controversies in biotechnology:

  1. Synthetic coral
  2. Xenotransplantation, and
  3. Biomining

Each team will be charged with developing case materials in the form of a module that could be used in courses that explore social, ethical, and political issues in the life sciences.

Whether you have attended all, some, or none of our workshops this past year, please come! And invite your students and postdocs to join you!

Lunch from Neomonde will be provided.

Please RSVP to the event here, and click here to add to calendar.

This monthly workshop series is designed to train MBTP faculty to better mentor students at the intersection of biotechnology and society, in cooperation with the Genetic Engineering and Society Center and the Genetics and Genomics Initiative.
