Responding to Comments

This guide will help you provide responses to comments that allow reviewers to continue the IACUC review and approval process, once you are logged into the Research Enterprise Data (RED) system.

  • Click the IACUC Protocol Number in action items that you wish to work with.

  • Click the Locked box in the top toolbar.

  • Click the Comments Panel button in the toolbar.

Comments from the IACUC office must be responded to prior to approval. Comments are noted with comment icons in each section. Remember, as you respond to comments you should make corresponding changes to the protocol itself.

Learn More

There are two types of comments in RED that have a technical difference:

  • Standard Comments – policy requires these comments receive a response.

  • Response Required Comments – in addition to the policy requiring a response, if these comments do not receive a response, the system will not allow a form to be submitted.

  • Click the Arrows to expand and collapse the comments.

  • Click the Dock button once to dock the panel to the right.

  • Click the X to close the comments panel.

  • Click the Reply link to open the reply tools.

  • Type a comment/response in the comment box.

  • Click the Post button to submit the response.

  • Click the Question to navigate to that place in the form and make the necessary changes.

  • Click a section tab in the left navigation menu with a comments icon.

  • Click a Standard or Response Required comment icon in the form to open the comments panel.

  • Click the Save Changes button in the top toolbar.
