Exciting addition to CMIF: Zeiss LSM 880 with Airyscan is ready for action

We are excited to announce the acquisition of a new state of the art Zeiss LSM 880 laser scanning confocal microscope with Airyscan to CMIF. This purchase was made possible by a successful 2016 NSF MRI grant (#1624613) led by Dr. Marcela Rojas Pierce (Plant and Microbial Biology) with co-PIs Drs. Ross Sozzani, (Plant & Microbial Biology); Greg Reeves and Jason Haugh (Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering); and Eva Johannes, CMIF Director. Matching funds were provided by the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED). The instrument has been installed and tested, and is now ready for prime time. In order to get the campus community excited about this new resource, we are planning the following events that we hope many of your will attend:

Monday, May 8 at noon: A technical talk by Dr. Oliver Tress, Zeiss imaging specialist, who will highlight the capabilities of the LSM880 with Airyscan. There will be plenty of time for questions regarding suitability of your specimens or experimental needs. This talk will take place in the Stephens Room in 3503 Thomas Hall.

Thursday May 25 from 1-5pm – CMIF open House. Please stop by CMIF at any time to see the microscope in action. We will have samples ready to demonstrate the equipment and the types of experiments that can be done. You are welcome to bring some samples to try, and we will try to accommodate you depending on how many people attend.
