NC State Startups Featured at 2015 CED Life Science Conference
NC State University’s Office of Technology Transfer leveraged its partnership with the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) to feature life science startups that originated from NC State at the highly successful CED Life Science Conference. The conference was held from March 3-4 at the Raleigh Convention Center, in partnership with the NC Biotechnology Center and the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO). Attracting participants from industry, research, the investment community, and business organizations, the CED Life Science Conference is the leading life science conference in the Southeast. The conference connects NC life science entrepreneurs with hundreds of investors from around the country and features world renowned industry leaders as conference speakers and participants. NC State was well represented by its startups. Ten of the fifty-four companies were startups from NC State, including three Showcase Companies and seven Innovation Companies.
NC State’s Office of Technology Transfer is pleased to continue its partnership with the CED by participating in this event. “The CED Life Science Conference provides us with the perfect opportunity to showcase the impact that NC State has in the life sciences area. Our startups are greatly benefiting from being exposed to such a diverse group of attendees, from investors to strategic partners,” said Wade Fulghum, Assistant Director of Venture Development. Three NC State startups (BioResource International (BRI), Physcient, and Novocor Medical Systems) were selected as Showcase Companies and were able to present to the 750 in attendance at this year’s conference.
Giles Shih, Chairman and CEO of BRI, was invited to present during “The Next 10 – Strategies and Trends in a Changing Landscape” where leaders in the field came together to discuss the next 10 years of life science innovation.
The following NC State startups were selected to participate on the demo floor as well, where they had the opportunity to meet with investors, potential partners, and customers.
