RED U Course Revisions
As we approach Cycle 2 of PD Rollout, we're using lessons learned to streamline RED U — our series of hands-on system training courses.
PINS users in Cycle 1 will begin creating their first new proposals in PD over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the start of Cycle 2 is fast approaching.
With each rollout cycle, the PD implementation team hopes to gradually improve not only the module itself but also our own processes. For example, we’re streamlining RED U for Cycle 2 so that it will take fewer courses and less time for research administrators and PIs alike to learn how to use PD.
Specifically, the two RED U courses relevant to faculty users — 202 and 305 — have been shortened to 45 and 30 minutes, respectively. RED U 305 covers how to approve a proposal as a PI, department head, etc. RED U 202 covers how to complete the proposal Intake Form; depending on their unit’s business processes, PIs may or may not need to take 202.
RED U 305: Proposal Approvals and Routing is also now available on-demand as a webinar.
Meanwhile, research administrators will no longer take RED U 202 in addition to 203, as completing the proposal intake form is now also covered in RED U 203. In other words, most users can skip RED U 202; it’s now only for faculty researchers who will be responsible for completing the proposal Intake Form.
