Proposal Development (PD) Module to Begin Phased Implementation Soon
RED’s PD module will replace the legacy system PINS. Each unit has been assigned a rollout cycle, and users will be notified when it’s time to make the switch. The first cycle starts in August.
The final Sponsored Programs module — and second-to-last module slated for implementation — will begin its phased rollout this fall. Proposal Development (PD) will replace the legacy system PINS.
We’re rolling out PD to campus in four cycles, which will follow the same basic schedule. Based on the results of a user survey, we’ve assigned each affected unit to one of the four cycles. Our phased implementation approach aims to ensure each unit — and every PINS user — receives the help and support they need to smoothly transition into using PD.
The first rollout cycle is scheduled to run from August through November and will include the following units:
- College of Humanities and Social Sciences
- College of Natural Resources
- College of Veterinary Medicine
- Proposal Development Unit (PDU)
- SPARCS
RED U training courses will become available to all users beginning in mid-September. Aug. 19 until then will be dedicated to training PD Champions. Check the Research Education events calendar to see when courses will be held.
We’ll follow up here and via email with details about how to register for system training — and which users should take which courses. Until you’re instructed otherwise, you should continue to use PINS to submit proposals.
