Bio

As Executive Assistant to the Assistant Vice Chancellor in the Office of Research Commercialization, Miranda executes comprehensive administrative responsibilities on behalf of the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director.

She serves as a liaison on ORC activities that establish and sustain relationships between the university, the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI), ORC and the public. Miranda is the point of contact for logistical support for the NSF I-Corps, NAI Chapter and Fellows Nominations, Annual Celebration of Innovation and the Chancellor’s Innovation Fund.

Miranda earned her Masters in Public Administration from Strayer University, as well as dual Bachelors in Public Administration and Religion & Philosophy from Shaw University and an Associates in Business Administration and General Accounting from Hardbarger Business College. Prior to joining ORC, Miranda worked nearly 18 years in NC State’s Office of University Communications and Marketing, spending the later six years of her tenure there as an assistant to the AVC and office manager within the University Advancement executive suite in Holladay Hall. Miranda also brings private-sector experience to ORC, having worked 15 years at software giant SAS Institute in various roles in Corporate Communications, which included work with members of the press and industry analysts.

In her spare time, Miranda enjoys spending time with family and friends, the beach, designing and recreating recipes, and mentoring women. Interests include health and wellness, cooking techniques and tools, and travel. Little-known facts: One day she hopes to own her own holistic wellness center; she’s an author and was once a religion columnist at the Triangle Tribune in Durham.
