The Office of Research Commercialization (ORC) strategically manages invention disclosures submitted by faculty, staff and students from all colleges, departments and units on NC State’s campus to best leverage the commercial potential of university research. ORC works with NC State inventors to navigate the patenting and licensing process for new university technologies and intellectual property.

Chancellor’s Innovation Fund

The Chancellor’s Innovation Fund (CIF) is a proof-of-concept fund that provides grant funding to university research projects to accelerate the development of university technologies to a commercially viable point. The award process is competitive, and up to six projects are selected each year for funding with awards totaling as much as $50,000 per project.
