Devesh Srivastava
Bio
Devesh Srivastava, Ph.D., J.D. is a Senior Licensing Associate (Life Sciences) for the NC State Office of Research Commercialization. He is passionate about bringing leading edge scientific discoveries from the lab to the clinic and consumer market, so that all may benefit from the technological advances being made at universities.
Devesh brings experience from government (US Patent & Trademark Office), private practice (AMLAW100 and patent boutique law firms) where he served as outside counsel to universities and corporations, and as in-house counsel at Louisiana State University, a biopharmaceutical start up and a global 100 company. He utilizes a business acumen to transition ideas to assets while navigating the intersection of science and Intellectual Property (IP) law.
Before embarking on an IP career, Devesh completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His university licensing experience includes successful negotiation of agreements between the University of Georgia Research Foundation and Allergan for the drug product, Restasis®, and between Louisiana State University and BioNTech for a mRNA stabilizing agent which was critical to the development of the COVID vaccine marketed by Pfizer-BioNTech.
Devesh completed his B.A. in Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri, a Ph.D. in visual sciences with a focus on biochemistry, enzymology and molecular biology at the University of Houston, and a J.D. at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. For over 15 years, he has counseled universities and companies on all aspects of their intellectual property assets. Devesh enjoys tennis, cooking and spending time with his children.
