Zach Williams

New Ventures Program Manager

As New Ventures Program Manager, Zach works closely with university startups to help build early business strategy and secure early stage funding. He manages the Spark Plug Program which aims to connect NCSU startups with Government funding. He serves as an NSF I-Corp instructor and works to build relationships with ecosystem partners.

Zach began his career as a research engineer in the Nuclear Space Power Division at NASA. Prior to joining ORC, he worked in various roles in startups and business consulting.

He has earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, MS in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA from NC State. As an undergrad, he was a member of the NC State Football team. Zach is also a licensed Professional Engineer. He brings over 11 years of experience as a researcher, startup co-founder, and consultant.

In his spare time he enjoys discovering new places in the Triangle, renovating houses, and discussing a wide range of topics from Personal Finance to Space Exploration.
