We are excited to welcome Dr. Joy Gaston Gayles as our keynote speaker for Research Week at NC State. Dr. Gayles’ talk will focus on the importance of including diverse populations and perspectives to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. This talk will challenge us to think about what gets in the way of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and practice and what we can do if we truly value diversity.
Dr. Joy Gaston Gayles is Professor of Higher Education and Program Coordinator in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development. Recently, she received the Zenobia L. Hikes Woman of Color in the Academy Award for her scholarly contributions, engagement with campus and community, and record of advancing women of color in their pursuit of excellence.
