Bio

Dr. Jones is a Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Director of the Science and Technologies for Phosphorus Sustainability (STEPS) Center, Director and Principal Investigator of the Research Triangle Nanotechnology Network and a University Faculty Scholar. As the interim associate vice chancellor for research initiatives, Dr. Jones manages a range of institutional research activities and works to identify emerging and advanced research domains.  As part of this role, he oversees the 13 centers and institutes administered by the Office of Research and Innovation, as well as the National Laboratories Initiative, the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences (LAS) and the Quantum Initiative.
