Smruti Patil, Ph.D., IPMM

Smruti Patil is a licensing associate at NC State Office of Research Commercialization and is part of the Life Science licensing team. She is passionate about bridging the gap between academic research and industry needs.

Prior to joining NC State, she was a licensing associate at UWM Research Foundation, Inc (UWMRF) where her role was to evaluate, market and license wide range of Intellectual Property arising from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Research and support UWMRF programs that aid university startups in their path towards commercialization.

Smruti earned Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology from University of Massachusetts (UMass) interdisciplinary program along with M.S in Plastics Engineering from UMass, Lowell. She also has a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Management and Markets Program (IPMM) from Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.

In her spare time, she enjoys live music and reading autobiographies. She also likes to meet new people and explore different cultures.
