Metallomics
The Metallomics core lab provides users with quantitative measurements of over 45 elements from a variety of sample materials. Sample preparation capabilities include heated nitric acid digestions as well as the ability to ash samples using a muffle furnace. Analytically, elemental quantitation is achieved using our Thermo Scientific iCAP-RQ mass spectrometer. This instrument specializes in high-sensitivity elemental quantitation.
- Matrix: We can accommodate many varieties of matrices from different organisms and origins. Some examples of matrices we are able to analyze are:
- Tissue
- Blood
- Urine
- Feces
- Hair
- Plant
- Concentration: Our calibration range is from 0.01 to 500 ppb but will vary (rather greatly) from element to element; these numbers are the general linear range of the instrument, which can represent a broad range of concentrations in the original sample (depending on dilution).
