About Us

Established in 2000, the mission of the Genomic Sciences Laboratory (GSL) is to enable discovery in the biological sciences by providing researchers and students with the necessary cutting-edge equipment and infrastructure required to conduct advanced genomics research. The GSL operates as a solution center and provides NC State researchers, collaborators, and the broader scientific community with access to high-throughput DNA sequencing, traditional Sanger sequencing and genotyping, and additional equipment services for functional genomic assays and mapping. The GSL also provides high-throughput robotics and instrumentation to facilitate the handling of large numbers of samples, as well as many advanced sequencing and sequencing support applications developed independently by NC State faculty. The GSL is administered by the Office of Research and Innovation at NC State and operates on a fee-recovery basis. The GSL operates under a laboratory director with oversight from an advisory board of NC State faculty members. In addition to serving as a research resource, the GSL is committed to the education and training of students, faculty, and staff.
