Step 1: Determining if Approval is Required

Although IACUC review and approval are not required for some activities, the committee is willing to conduct a standard review when it is required by funding agencies or publishers or can provide a letter stating that no IACUC review was required.

Once you determine that an IACUC protocol is required for your study, you will start to prepare and submit your IACUC Application for Vertebrate Animal Use Protocol or AVAU.
