Export Controls: Training
Before participating in controlled research, NC State personnel are required to take relevant training addressing the federal regulations and necessary safeguarding. The table below lists the required training. Note, these training opportunities are also accessible for any NC State researchers interested in learning more about export control regulations, safeguarding controlled information, insider threat, and additional security risk concern and mitigation considerations.
Course Requirements by Activity
|New personnel to be added to a technology control plan or potential exposure to export-controlled information/material (ie. DD2345 requests).
|CITI Export Control Course
|Personnel working with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
|CUI Privileged User Cybersecurity Responsibilities via Reporter.
|IT Staff with access to Controlled Data in the Secure University Research Environment (SURE)
|Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Insider Threat via Reporter
Export Control Course Through CITI Program
How to Enroll
- Once you are logged in to the CITI Program, click the View Courses button next to the university name.
- Scroll down to the Learner Tools for North Carolina State University box, and click Add a Course.
- Select CITI Export Controls Course (note – you can select multiple courses at the same time) and click Submit.
- Confirm that the course has been added to your Courses Ready to Begin list.
Note: In order to complete the course successfully and receive credit for the course, you must receive at least an 80% score for all modules.
