As an NC State faculty, student or staff member involved in the conduct of research, you may be required or requested to take compliance training for a variety of reasons (e.g. federal requirements) and on a variety of topics.

Register for CITI Program Training
CITI is a platform that hosts online training in research, ethics, regulatory oversight, responsible conduct of research, and research administration for researchers. NC State uses CITI for both required and encouraged training for research compliance topics. Below are instructions for registering in CITI or affiliating an existing CITI account with NC State. Visit the discipline specific training pages for specific enrollment instructions.

Based on your situation, select one of the drop downs below for instructions of how to register and enroll.
I’m new to the CITI Program. How do I register and enroll?
Register
- Go to https://www.citiprogram.org/?pageID=668
- At top of the page, click on the Log In Through My Institution link.
- Scroll down and select North Carolina State University. You may be asked to log into the NC State Single Sign-On (SSO), Shibboleth, using your Unity ID and password.
- In the Associate your SSO account with a CITI Program account box, choose the option I don’t have a CITI Program account and I need to create one.
Enroll
- Once you are logged in to CITI, click the View Courses button next to the university name.
- Scroll down to the Learner Tools for North Carolina State University box, and click Add a Course.
- You will be presented a list of courses you can take. Depending on the research that you are doing and the funding for your research will determine which courses you should take. Please consult the relevant departments for further guidance.
- Once all questions have been answered, click Submit. The system will enroll you in the associated course(s).
I have previously registered for the CITI Program. How do I enroll in a course?

- Once you are logged in to CITI, click the View Courses button next to the university name.
- Scroll down to the Learner Tools for North Carolina State University box, and click Add a Course.
- You will be presented a list of courses you can take. Depending on the research that you are doing and the funding for your research will determine which courses you should take. Please consult the relevant departments for further guidance.
- Once all questions have been answered, click Submit. The system will enroll you in the associated course(s).
I have taken CITI courses before, but not at NC State. How do I register and enroll?
Register
- Go to https://www.citiprogram.org/?pageID=668
- At top of the page, click on the Log In Through My Institution link.
- Scroll down and select North Carolina State University. You may be asked to log into the NC State Single Sign-On (SSO), Shibboleth, using your Unity ID and password.
- In the Associate your SSO account with a CITI Program account box, choose the option I already have a CITI Program account.
- Enter your CITI Program username and password. After this step, your credentials will be linked to your NC State Unity ID and password. Any future logins will be completed through the SSO.
- Note: If you have forgotten your CITI Program username and/or password, you can:
- Complete the CITI retrieval process.
- Contact the NC State RCR Administrator by emailing rcr-administrator@ncsu.edu to request that they look up your username and reset the password.
- Once you have retrieved your CITI Program login credentials, follow the steps above again to associate your login to your Unity ID.
- Note: If you have forgotten your CITI Program username and/or password, you can:

For all courses, you will be required to complete the Integrity Assurance Statement before accessing the training modules. In order to pass and receive credit for course completion, you must score at least 80% on all required module quizzes.
